Pacific County is a county in the state of Washington , United States . 20,984 inhabitants live here. The county seat is South Bend .

The county covers an area of 3,169 square kilometers, of which 2,416 square kilometers are land and 752 square kilometers (23.74 percent) are water. In Pacific County are Willapa Bay, known for its oyster production, as well as Leadbetter Point State Park and the Shoalwater Indian Reservation. Part of Willapa Bay has been placed under conservation as the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge . It is managed by the US Fish & Wildlife Service .

According to the 2000 census , the county had 20,984 people. There were 9,096 households and 5,885 families. The population density was 9 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 90.54% White, 0.20% African American, 2.44% Native American, 2.08% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, and 1.83% other races Groups; 2.82% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 5.01% of the population.
Of the 9,096 households, 23.10% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 53.10% were married couples living together, 7.90% were single mothers. 35.30% were not families. 29.50% were single households and 14.30% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.27 and the average family size was 2.77 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 21.40% of residents under 18 years of age, 6.00% between 18 and 24 years of age, 21.20% between 25 and 44 years of age, 28.90% between 45 and 64 years of age 22.60% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 98.30 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 95.80 males.
The median income for a household in the 31,209 USD , and the median income for a family was 39,302 USD. Males had a median income of $ 33,892 versus $ 22,982 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,322. 14.40% of the population and 9.10% of families are below the poverty line. 19.70% of these were under 18 years of age and 8.10% were 65 years of age or older.
