The Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary is a 101 acres (40.9 ha ) comprehensive protected area in Barnstable in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . It is administered by the Massachusetts Audubon Society .
Protected area
Located on Cape Cod , the sanctuary includes a salt marsh stretch of beach at Barnstable Harbor , green spaces, and wooded areas. A total of 2.5 mi (4 km ) of hiking trails lead visitors to the points of interest, including the lookout point known as the million dollar view . In the visitor center conservation projects for rare animal species are presented, there are also seasonal tours with kayaks and excursions to the Elizabeth Islands .
The sanctuary , together with the Ashumet Holly Wildlife Sanctuary, is part of a conservation program for the eastern blade root ( scaphiopus holbrookii ), a North American toad species.
