Longformacus is a village in the Scottish Council Area Scottish Borders or in the traditional county of Berwickshire . It is located around nine kilometers north of Greenlaw and northwest of Duns on Dye Water . Longformacus is located on the eastern slopes of the Lammermuir Hills at an altitude of around 210 m .
history
A church building can be found on the site as early as the 13th century. Today's Longformacus Church dates from the 1730s.
The former barony of Longformacus was once owned by the Earls of Moray and later by the Earls of Dunbar .
The Tower House Cranshaws Castle was probably built in the middle of the 16th century northwest of Longformacus . In the second half of the same century, another tower house followed in the village itself.
Robert Sinclair, 3rd Baronet let the early 18th century mansion Longformacus House built on the eastern edge of Longformacus.

Located in a sparsely populated region on the edge of the Lammermuir Hills, Longformacus is only connected to the road network via an unclassified road. The A6105 and A6112 are accessible from Duns .
Longformacus is located on the Southern Upland Way between Portpatrick and Cockburnspath .
