After about a north-easterly run it joins the middle Fichtenberger Rot from the right at the Ebersberger Sägmühle .

Surname

Instead of the form of the name Maßlensbach , which is adopted here, the form Maßlesbach is sometimes found , in older sources also Maslensbach or Maslensbach / Maislensbach . The spelling variants are probably respect / s e only otherwise be observed fluctuating textualization of dialect in the local form of the name [ maːsləsˌbax ] occurring schwas owed, respect ß / s is probably crucial that ordinary s -use sources from before the Duden's come standardization . The i , which is vaguely read in one case, could also be part of the map hatching.

geography

Heiligenbach

The longer right upper course Heiligenbach arises from two short source streams, which at an altitude of about 505  m above sea level. NN and 500  m above sea level NN in the edge of the Heiligenwald on the right of the forest road from Wolfenbrück in the south to Marbächle, a little northeast or east of the small plateau hump Steinbühl. Both streams run in a rapidly deepening blade east-north-east or north-east, the longer left source stream runs through two very small forest ponds one after the other, after about half a kilometer they flow at about 473  m above sea level. NN together. From here the Heiligenbach already moves in the direction of the axis of the Maßlensbach northeast through its blade in the Heiligenwald until it unites with the smaller stream coming from the left from the Dexelklinge . With its slightly longer and left source brook, the Heiligenbach has a length of 1.2 km and a catchment area of around 0.9 km².

Bach from the Dexel Blade

The left upper course from the Dexelklinge is only 0.7 km long and drains an area of only about 0.2 km². It rises at about 495  m above sea level. NN on the forest slope under the ridge road to Konhalden and moves about east-northeast until it is opposite the Flinsberg in the east and south of the individual estate Dexelhof at 448.7  m above sea level. NN merges with the stronger Heiligenbach, where the forest path that starts on the Wolfenbrück – Marbächle road between the Heiligenbach springs reaches the valley floor.

Maßlensbach

The forest path changes over the Maßlensbach that was created there to the right-hand side of the Heiligenbach – Maßlensbach axis. A little downwards flows from the left a smaller drain from a realm near the Dexelhof on the left slope, the surrounding open slope now reaches close to the stream. Further down, a stream that has remained very natural flows with an accompanying gallery from Konhalden on the open slope. The streams and channels that flow in afterwards are all significantly shorter than these two approximately half-kilometer tributaries.

Where the forest covers the entire left slope again, the forest path on the right of the stream leaves the valley up to Burggasse , the ridge to Fichtenberger Rot, which is now quite close to the east. On its lower course, which is quite deeply indented here, one of the blades typical of the area runs the Maßlensbach northwards under the Schlossrain of the small ridge that soon ends in the spur of the Schlossbuckel on the right. Finally, the Maßlensbach leaves the forest near the Ebersberger Sägmühle in the Rot-Aue for the last almost hundred meters of its course, where it rises to around 365  m above sea level. NN flows from the right into the middle Fichtenberger Rot, which flows southeast , 3.1 km down from the Heiligenbach source and 3.1 km down from the confluence of its upper reaches. The Heiligenbach – Maßlensbach line therefore has an average bottom gradient of around 44 ‰.

Catchment area

The catchment area of Maßlensbachs located in the south of the subspace mainhardt forest of the natural area Swabian-Franconian Forest , is also the nature park Swabian-Franconian Forest at. It has a catchment area of around 2.0 km², which extends from a small forest meadow behind the small plateau-hump Steinbühl (approx. 525  m above sea level ) north of Wolfenbrück, a little above the Heiligenbach origin, about 2.5 km Extends northeast to the estuary. Across it, it is at most a little over 1.0 km wide. About seven eighths of it is wooded; Only part of the left slope around the Dexelhof and the Brennhof and two smaller areas of the forest meadow at the Heiligenbach-Ursprung and the Rot-Aue at the mouth is open and covered with meadows. The two highest points are on the Flinsberg ( 534.8  m above sea level ) on the right opposite the Dexelhof and on an anonymous forest hump in the Buchreute ( 533.6  m above sea level ) on the forest meadow. The only settlement area right in the catchment area is the Dexelhof on the left side of the slope shortly after the confluence of the upper reaches; further down, on the same side, lies the hamlet of Konhalden, just behind the watershed, and then the Brennhof on it. In the Rot-Aue, near the mouth, the Ebersberger Sägmühle is located just behind the right watershed; all belong to the municipality of Oberrot .

The long north-western catchment area border is joined by the catchment area of the Heiligenbach on the outside , then closer to the mouth of a short Klingenbach, which, like this one, meets the Mühlbach, which flows into the Kocher tributary Fichtenberger Rot at the Lower Kornberger Sägmühle just before the Maßlensbach . Behind the long southeastern watershed, which first rises from the mouth to the spur peak of the Schlossbuckels ( 442.7  m above sea level ) and then moves over the summit of the Flinsberg, first the Fichtenberger Rot itself compete one after the other , then continuously growing brooks to it , including most recently the Wimbach and the Fronbach . A little beyond the short southwestern watershed above the Heiligenbach spring, which is hardly noticeable in terms of morphology , the uppermost source courses of Fornsbach and then the large Trauzenbach tributary Siegelsbach , both drain towards the Murr , which is why this section of the catchment area boundary is hydrologically the most important.

geology

The catchment area of the Maßlensbach is largely within the Neckar-Jagst furrow, which is usually one kilometer wide and runs from the west -south- west to the east-north-east . All upper courses arise in the Stubensandstein ( Löwenstein Formation ), which is found on most of the catchment area. To the left, at a little distance from the Heiligenbach upper course and later also from the upper course from the Drexelklinge, the younger layers of marl ( Trossingen formation ) appear on the higher elevations , at the very edge of the catchment area the sequence of layers even reaches the lower Black Jura in the form of the easternmost of the chain of Black Jurassic peaks that runs through the Mainhardt Forest and the Löwenstein Mountains to the west-northwest. Immediately to the left of the night from the Drexel blade lies a small zone of slipped material from tectonically higher layers above the parlor sandstone. The valley floor only reaches the deeper Keuper layers east of the Brennhof, around where the Maßlensbach turns to the north. On the last three quarters of a kilometer from here on, the brook then cuts through the Mittelkeuper layers below in rapid succession up to at least the lower colored marls ( Steigerwald formation ). According to the sources used, it is not clear whether it finally reaches the local layer boundary of the gypsum keuper ( Grabfeld formation ), which in the valley of the Fichtenberger Rot spreads out both before and after the traversing furrow zone at the foot of the slope, because the red runs in a wide strip of floodplain sediment. in which the Maßlensbach flows here.

The watershed of the right Maßlensbachs attracts over one of the two peaks of Flinsbergs ( 534.8  m above sea level. NN ) on which some large flint blocks lie on whose behalf the summit also natural monument is.

Nature and tourism

The Maßlensbach has remained very close to nature for a good one kilometer from its confluence to its north turn. The clear stream water flows with small changes of direction in a 0.5–1.5 m wide, mostly steeply incised stream bed over a stony, rubble-rich bed on which large stone blocks sometimes lie. There is mostly hardwood on the run.

A hiking and cycling path from Wolfenbrück in the southwest to the Ebersberger Sägmühle runs until the confluence of the source streams mostly between them, then for a long time close to the right of the Maßlensbach. At this confluence it is crossed by a hiking trail from Grab in the west-north-west Oberrot in the east-south-east, and a branch path from this on the plateau opens up the summit of the Flinsberg .
