Matthew Jason Bloom (born November 14, 1972 in Peabody, Massachusetts ) is a retired American wrestler , and is currently under contract with the WWE , where he works as the head coach at the Performance Center . One of his greatest successes was receiving the Intercontinental Championship .
Early years
Prior to his wrestling career, Bloom played football with the San Diego Chargers . He holds a degree in law . Bloom was trained by Dory Funk Jr. and Killer Kowalski . In 1997 he made his debut as The Mongolian with World Wrestling Alliance .
Wrestling career
World Wrestling Federation / Entertainment (1999-2004)
In 1999 Bloom made his debut with the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE ) as Prince Albert . Since 2000 Bloom has appeared as Albert . Together with Test , he formed the T&A tag team . The tag team disbanded at the end of 2000 and Bloom briefly feuded against Test . On June 26, 2001 , Bloom won the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Kane . He gave the title to Lance Storm on July 23, 2001 .
From December 2002 Bloom appeared as the A-Train . Bloom started a feud against Rey Mysterio and Edge . In early 2003 Bloom joined Big Show and feuded with Undertaker and Nathan Jones . After the feud ended, Big Show and Bloom joined Paul Heyman and his protégé Brock Lesnar . With these they feuded against Hardcore Holly . In November 2004, Bloom was released.
All Japan Pro Wrestling (2005-2006)
In March 2005, Bloom joined All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW). At AJPW, Bloom joined the stable Voodoo Murders .
New Japan Pro Wrestling (2006-2012)
In January 2006 Bloom moved to New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). In April 2006 he won the New Japan Cup there . In July 2006 he formed a tag team with Travis Tomko . With this , Bloom won the IWGP Tag Team Championship on March 11, 2007 . They handed the title over to Togi Makabe and Toru Yano on February 17, 2008 . In 2008 Bloom joined the stable RISE . With this he feuded against the stable Great Bash Heel . Bloom later feuded with RISE against the stable legend . In September 2008, Bloom joined Great Bash Heel .
In 2009 Bloom joined the CHAOS stable . In October 2009 won Bloom with Karl Anderson , the G1 Tag League . Bloom and Anderson formed the Bad Intentions tag team . 19 June 2010 won Bloom with Anderson the IWGP Tag Team Championship . Almost a year later, on 18 June 2011, won them the GHC Tag Team Championship of Pro Wrestling NOAH under a Interpromotional matches in NJPW Dominion 6.18. Bad Intensions had to surrender the IWGP Tag Team Championship to TenKoji on January 4, 2012 at the traditional New Japan New Year's Show. At 564 days, Bloom and Anderson hold the record for the longest title reign of the IWGP Tag Team Championship.
Return to WWE (since 2012)
On April 2, 2012, in the first Monday Night RAW issue after WrestleMania XXVIII, Matt Bloom returned to WWE under the ring name Lord Tensai , initially with Sakamoto, who acted as a kind of servant, by his side. Since the show on May 21, 2012, the ring name is only Tensai . From February 11, 2013 to December 16, 2013 he performed with Brodus Clay as the "Tons of Funk" tag team. After the dissolution, Bloom comments on the current program in the various formats. On August 7, 2014, he announced his retirement from active action on the WWE YouTube channel. He switched to the training camp at the WWE Performance Center.
