Lorenz Goetz

Lorenz Goetz (born March 23, 1810 in Simmern / Hunsrück , † November 23, 1894 in Neuwied ) was a German theologian , politician and member of the Frankfurt National Assembly .

Life

Lorenz Goetz studied theology , classical philology and French in Bonn and Heidelberg from 1829 to 1833 . In Bonn he joined the old Bonn fraternity in 1829 .

After completing his studies, he first became the administrator of the rectorate of the Simmern secondary school. He also worked as a parish administrator in Ravengiersburg (1834-1835).

Due to its membership in the fraternity he was in 1835 three and a half months in custody on the fortress of Wesel , later he was six years imprisonment convicted. He served the sentence until 1837, when he was pardoned.

From 1837 to 1838 he was rector of the secondary school in Simmern and pastor in Ravengiersburg. From 1838 to 1880 he was director of the high school in Neuwied, and since 1841 he was also the founder and director of the Sunday school for craftsmen in Neuwied. In the course of his life he was a participant in numerous Rhenish directors' conferences.

In the revolutionary year of 1848 he was elected to the Paulskirchenparliament for the constituency 8 of the Rhineland (Neuwied) province . He remained non-attached.

In 1850 he was a member of the extraordinary synod for the reorganization of ecclesiastical order.

From 1859 to 1862 he was a member of the House of Representatives in the Prussian State Parliament. At the coronation of Wilhelm I in Königsberg , he was a representative of the state parliament.

He retired in 1880.
