Los Gofiones is a Canarian folk music group consisting of singers and instrumentalists from the island of Gran Canaria , founded by an initiative of Luis Millares Sall . In 2018 the group celebrated its 50th anniversary on stage and can therefore look back on an extensive discography and a large number of appearances and recognitions. They are currently counting on fresh strength and a renovated ambience. In addition, the formation puts all its strength into the musical panorama with the creation of new projects and spectacles, such as B. "40 Años Navegando" (German: 40 years under sails).

history

Los Gofiones was founded on September 3rd, 1968 when a group of young people who wanted to save Canarian folklore carried out research in this field.

1969 realized Los Gofiones his first job in the Teatro Perez Galdos in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and a sound recording of their first record.

The music group, which consists of around 30 musicians, has toured the Canary Archipelago, the Iberian Peninsula, but also Cuba and Latin America over the years. This Canarian group was present at a large number of peoples' parades, festivals, church dedications / pilgrimages, as well as on television and the press. The group has been awarded various prizes such as the Medalla de Oro de Canarias (Gold Medal of the Canaries) in 2002 .
