Loss was founded in October 2003 by Jay LeMaire, Timothei Lewis, Mike Meacham and John Anderson to realize their idea of ​​Funeral Doom. Another split release, this time with Otesanek , Orthodox and Mornful Congregation, followed under the title Fo (u) r Burials . Meanwhile, the band was made an offer by Profound Lore Records . In May 2011 the debut album Despond was released on Profund Lore Records. For the recordings of the album, Pallbearer's Brett Campbell was called in as a guest singer. In the following year Loss was again part of a split album that served to portray the Profund Lore label. Another split EP, this time with Hooded Menace for Doomentia Records , followed in 2014. The group's second studio album, Horizonless , was released in May 2017. The album, produced by Billy Anderson , as well as its debut, was well received by critics and described as an innovative work in the genre.
