Lothar Beck (sculptor)

Lothar Beck (* 1953 in Herbsleben ) is a German painter , sculptor and university professor . He lives in Dresden.

Life

After graduating from school, he learned the trade of a construction machinist from 1969 to 1971. From 1974 to 1977 he worked in the theater as a set designer . Then he studied until 1980 at the University of Fine Arts in Dresden in the field of theater sculpture. From 1980 he worked freelance in Dresden. From 1986 the membership in the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR followed , after the turn in the Association of Visual Artists . In the period from 1983 to 1985 he took on a teaching position at the HfBK, head of the technical school. From 1998 he took on a teaching position at the Technical University of Dresden, Faculty of Architecture . From 2000 to 2001 he was head of the sculpture symposium of the New Saxon Art Association in the Sankt Marienthal-Ostritz monastery. From 2015 he took over the artistic direction of the Sculpture Academy Dresden. His artistic achievements encompass the past art epochs with his intentions of the models from the last century. Coupled with the style of classical modernism, he finds his individual style, whereby the art of theater is often reflected in his works. In his relief-like figures he composes the diversity of his statements. In 2006 he participated in the sculpture symposium in Moritzburg .
