Lothar Koch (politician, 1943)

Lothar Koch (born August 8, 1943 in Brück , Zauch-Belzig district ) is a local German politician .

Act

After graduating from the Polytechnic High School in Brück, Koch trained as a radio mechanic at Deutsche Post in Berlin . After two studies as an engineer for communications technology and project planning and as an engineer for information technology , he worked at the antenna test station in Brück.

In 1988 he first founded a citizens' initiative in Brück , then was a member of a round table and was co-opted into both the district council and the council of the Belzig district even before the local elections in 1990 . He is a member of the SPD and was until 1993 District Administrator of the district Belzig and then the first Chief Executive of the newly established district Potsdam-Mittelmark . Koch was elected at the first meeting of the new district assembly on January 20, 1994; he took office on February 21, 1994.

From May 23rd to 28th, 2004, Koch took a trip to Mongolia to prepare for the construction of a wellness and meeting place in Werder (Havel). The investor and co-operator of the Schwielowsee resort, Axel Hilpert , who had been convicted of subsidy fraud , had invited him. Koch and the mayor of the city of Werder (Havel) Werner Große (CDU), who was also traveling, had to pay a four-digit fine for accepting benefits in office.

Koch was re-elected several times and remained district administrator until 2009, when he was replaced by Wolfgang Blasig (SPD). 2009-2014 Koch was chairman of the district council. He has been a simple member of the district council since 2014.

Lothar Koch is married, has two children and lives in Brück.
