Lothar Piche (born May 27, 1926 in Zwickau ; † March 8, 2018 ) was a German politician ( DSU ). He was the age president of the last people 's chamber .

Life

Piche attended elementary school from 1932 to 1940. He then completed an apprenticeship as an electrician by 1943. After that he was drafted into military service. After the end of the war, Piche initially found a job at the Zwickau Horch factory, where he was employed as a dismantling worker. He then went to Wismut AG as an electrician for a few years .

According to his own statements, Piche then worked as a tractor builder, which suggests that he was involved in the production of the RS 01 "Pionier" tractor , which was manufactured in the Zwickau Horch works until 1956. He later worked as a group leader for materials management at the Sachsenring plant in Zwickau . In 1977, Piche was seriously injured in an attack, the then 51-year-old was subsequently disabled and lived as a disability pensioner in Cainsdorf .

Political career

During the political change in the GDR, Piche joined the newly founded right-wing conservative party, the German Social Union , which was particularly popular in the southern districts of the GDR . In the Volkskammer elections in 1990 he ran in the electoral district of Karl-Marx-Stadt on list position 5. Since the DSU in this electoral district achieved the best election result of all electoral districts with 14.8% of the votes, thus becoming the third strongest party in the electoral district and winning 7 seats, Piche moved as a member of the People's Chamber. Since the oldest MP, Günter Kilias , fell ill at the first meeting of the People's Chamber on April 5, 1990, Piche was given the honor of opening and chairing the first meeting of the People's Chamber of the 10th electoral term as age president . He was also a member of the Presidium of the People's Chamber for the DSU. In September 1990 the Bild newspaper alleged that Piche had allegedly blackmailed someone with pornographic photos. Allegedly, Piche's immunity as a member of parliament should then be lifted. But this was denied by the President of the People's Chamber, Sabine Bergmann-Pohl . Inside the party, however, Piche was forced to suspend his mandate and withdraw his candidacy as an observer of the European Parliament. The allegations against Piche were never resolved. He then resigned from the DSU in November 1990. Piche accused the then DSU chairman, Hansjoachim Walther , of failing to recognize that this affair, four weeks before the state elections, was not ostensibly directed against him, but against the party. He was referring to the election result of the DSU in the state elections in Saxony , where it clearly failed to make it into the state parliament with 3.6%.
