Wilhelmine Schirmer-Pröscher (born July 9, 1889 in Gießen , † March 2, 1992 in Berlin ) was a German politician of the LDPD block party .

Life

Schirmer-Pröscher, née Pöser, trained as a pharmacist in Wiesbaden from 1905 to 1907, attended the teachers' seminar in Darmstadt and Eisleben until 1909 and worked as a tutor in Frankfurt / Main until 1912. After her marriage in 1912, she lived with her husband and son in Bautzen as a housewife. Here she joined the German Democratic Party (DDP) in 1919 and supported Wilhelm Külz in the election campaign for the Weimar National Assembly . In 1919 she withdrew from political work for family reasons and lived in Berlin-Mariendorf . After the death of her husband, she ran the Hubertus drugstore in Mariendorf from 1931 to 1945.

After the end of World War II, she was one of the founders of the LDPD and was continuously represented on the party's governing bodies until 1989. In 1990 she became a member of the FDP. From 1948 to 1959 she worked as a councilor for health in East Berlin and then retired from professional life. Schirmer-Pröscher was a member of the People's Chamber from 1949 to 1990 and belonged to the LDPD faction. From 1954 to 1963 she acted as one of the deputies of the President of the People's Chamber. From 1971 she was their age-president . From 1948 to 1989 she was a member of the DFD federal executive board and was one of the honorary deputy chairmen of the DFD.

On the occasion of her 100th birthday, Schirmer-Pröscher was given honorary citizenship in East Berlin . When the honorary citizenship lists of East and West Berlin were merged, the Berlin Senate Schirmer-Pröscher posthumously rejected the award on September 29, 1992.
