Otto Krauss (born November 8, 1884 in Gotha , † May 1, 1971 in Erfurt ) was a German party functionary of the LDPD block party . As their deputy, he was a member of the People's Chamber for 21 years , of which he was last president .

Krauss was a trained banker . From 1945 to 1952 he was head of the Thüringische Landesbank in Erfurt.

His political involvement began after the First World War when he joined the German Peace Society and the League for Human Rights . After the end of the Second World War, he was one of the founders of the LDP in Erfurt in 1945 and served as head of the city council from 1945 to 1953 in the Thuringian state capital. In 1950 he was elected to the People's Chamber for the first time, to which he belonged continuously until his death in 1971. From July 9, 1964, he was their age president.

Krauss received a number of honors and state awards from the GDR in the course of his political career. In 1958 he was awarded the Wilhelm Külz badge of honor , the highest honor of the LDPD. He also received the Order of Labor Banner in 1964 , the German Peace Medal in 1968 and the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold in 1969 (1959 in silver, 1955 in bronze).
