Lothar von Heinemann (General)

Hans Friedrich Walter Theodor Lothar von Heinemann (born November 18, 1905 in Frankfurt (Oder) , † 1997 ) was an officer in the Air Force of the Wehrmacht and later the Air Force of the Bundeswehr . He retired as major general .

Life

Von Heinemann joined the army of the Reichswehr on October 25, 1925 . On October 6, 1936, he began general staff training at the Army War Academy in Berlin, which had reopened the previous year. On August 1, 1938, Heinemann moved to the Air Force. He was on March 1, 1939 Squadron Captain of the 6th Squadron of Kampfgeschwader 253 . From October 26, 1942, Lothar von Heinemann was deputy chief of the General Staff of the 8th Air Corps from January 15, 1943. Here he was promoted to colonel on April 1, 1943 , before joining the staff of Luftflotte 4 on June 12, 1943. From September 6, 1943, he became Chief of the General Staff in the II. Fliegerkorps and from July 20, 1944 in the same position with the I. Hunting Corps. On September 1, 1944, he changed again to serve in the same position in the II. Hunting Corps. He then moved on January 26, 1945 as commander of the 14th Air Division. In this function he was taken prisoner by the Allies on May 2, 1945 near Husum .

In 1956 he joined the Air Force of the German Armed Forces and was Chief of Staff of the Air Force Command from July 1, 1958 to December 31, 1960 as Brigadier General . He then led, as major general, the 4th Air Defense Division in Aurich until December 3, 1963. He retired as major general. Then he was a consultant to the Allgemeine Deutsche Philips Industrie .
