Lotschen is part of the municipality of Ruttersdorf-Lotschen in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia .

location

The hamlet-like village is located northwest of Stadtroda and north of the federal highway 4 in a trough-like valley near the state road 2315 from Hermsdorf to Stadtroda. The demarcation is docked and fenced with forest. To the east of Lotschen is the Ruttersdorf water reservoir, which was built in the 1960s .

history

The village was first mentioned in documents in 1406.

In 1885 the local volunteer fire brigade was founded. In 1909 Lotschen was connected to the power grid. In 1948, the number of inhabitants reached a high of 150 due to the influx of numerous displaced persons. In 1950 there was a vote on the unification of the Lotschen community with the neighboring town of Ruttersdorf . Although the merger was rejected by the Lotschen 100 percent, both places were merged on July 1, 1950 to form the municipality of Ruttersdorf-Lotschen.

The agricultural production cooperative “Buntsandstein”, which was founded in Ruttersdorf in 1960, began in autumn 1966 with the construction of a stable for 200 cattle on the outskirts. In the 1970s, a cottage settlement was built at the Ruttersdorf reservoir.

At the beginning of 2017, 49 people lived in the village.
