Louis Gerstner, Jr.

Louis V. Gerstner, Jr. KBE (born March 1, 1942 in Mineola ) was chairman of the Carlyle Group from 2003 to 2008 . In addition to his activities in the management of Nabisco , American Express and McKinsey , he gained his reputation as CEO of IBM from 1993 to 2002.

The change from IBM to a modern, service-oriented company and thus the rescue of one of the world's largest corporations is ascribed to him.

In 2000 he was accepted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .

education

In 1963 Gerstner graduated from Dartmouth College with a bachelor's degree in engineering . He then completed his MBA at Harvard Business School in 1965 .
