Louis-Edouard Roulette

Louis-Edouard Roulet (born October 18, 1917 in Neuchâtel NE ; † September 11, 1996 in Vienna ) was a Swiss historian and officer ( Oberst Brigadier ).

Life

Roulet was born the son of an employee of the postal, telephone and telegraph companies and a librarian. From 1937 to 1943 he studied humanities at the University of Bern and the University of Geneva . In 1947 he received his doctorate in Bern.

From 1945 to 1960 he worked as a secondary school teacher in Bern , Delsberg and Neuchâtel. He was then director of the Séminaire de français moderne . In 1961 he became professor of Swiss history at the University of Neuchâtel and in 1965 at the University of Bern. His focus was on French-Swiss relations and military history .

From 1971 to 1977 he was President of the General History Research Society of Switzerland (AGGS). He was also the head of the Swiss Society for Huguenot History and the Swiss Association for Military History and Science .

He held the rank of Colonel Brigadier in the Swiss Army .
