Louis Aliot

Louis Aliot (born September 4, 1969 in Toulouse , Haute-Garonne ) is a French politician of the Rassemblement National . Since 2011 he has been one of the party's vice-presidents, and from 2005 to 2010 he was also general secretary. He has been a member of the French National Assembly since June 2017 and mayor of Perpignan since 2020 .

Career

Aliot studied Political Science and Public Law at the University of Toulouse I and his PhD in 2002 for Dr. jur . In 1990 he joined the Front National and was subsequently active for their youth organization, the Front national de la jeunesse . Since 1998, he was elected Regional Councilor of the Region Midi-Pyrenees ; he held this position until 2010. He has been elected to the same position in the Languedoc-Roussillon region since 2010 . From 2005 to 2010 he also acted as Secretary General of the FN. In 2009 it was first put up for the European elections , but was not elected. Aliot finally rose to the management level of the FN in the early 2010s. He was one of the leading forces in Marine Le Pen's election campaign for the 2012 French presidential election . When the latter took over the chairmanship of the party in January 2011, Aliot was appointed vice-president and has held this position to this day. He has also been in a relationship with Le Pen since 2009.

In the 2014 European elections, he was elected to the European Parliament as a candidate for the FN list , where he was a member of the Development Committee and the Budgetary Control Committee . In June 2017 he was elected as a member of the National Assembly in the second round of the French parliamentary elections ; due to the rules against the accumulation of offices , he resigned from his European mandate. In 2020 he will run for the third time in a row in the local elections in Perpignan . and was elected mayor in June 2020.

Affairs

In 2011 he was hired by Marine Le Pen, contrary to the rules of the European Parliament, as a parliamentary secretary in their constituency. In 2017, like other MEPs, including Marine Le Pen and Florian Philippot, he was accused of misusing European Parliament funds to finance his party.

Private life

From 2009 to 2019, Aliot was the partner of Marine Le Pen , the chairman of the Rassemblement National.
