Louis Krause (politician)

Louis Krause (born July 25, 1873 in Lippersdorf , † March 26, 1961 in Stadtroda ) was a German wood sculptor and politician ( Economic Party (WP) ).

Krause was born the son of a landowner. The elementary school was followed by training as a wood sculptor and attending a technical school until 1890. After his military service from 1893 to 1895, he worked as a freelance wood sculptor and master painter in Roda . From April 1915 to December 1918 he took part in the First World War and was released as a sergeant . Krause was a member of the German National People's Party in the early 1920s and represented it from June 20, 1920 to July 30, 1921 as a member of the Thuringian state parliament . From 1921 he was a member of the Roda council. From February 10, 1924 to July 30, 1932 he was again a member of the state parliament. Until 1927 he belonged to the DNVP parliamentary group, after a change of party to the WP parliamentary group. From April 30, 1927 to January 22, 1930, Krause was a member of the state council for Altenburg without a portfolio in the Leutheusser and Paulssen governments of the state of Thuringia .

On May 1, 1937, Krause joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party (membership number 5 294 693).

Krause was a juror at the District Court Roda and Gera District Court and member of the District Administrative Court Stadtroda. He had a mandate on the supervisory board of Oberen Saale AG, he was also a board member of the Central German Association of Craftsmen and, from 1939 to 1946, of the district and city savings bank Stadtroda.

After the Second World War he was one of the founding members of the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany in Stadtroda and was its chairman until 1953. A street in Stadtroda was named after him.
