Lou Mauro

Louis J. "Lou" Mauro (born July 5, 1927 in Ambridge , Pennsylvania , † March 7, 2014 in Orlando , Florida ) was an American jazz and studio musician ( double bass ).

Live and act

Mauro did his military service in a naval band during World War II and began his music career in orchestras and bands from the big band era. He played in television shows at the KDKA station in Pittsburgh , where he was also part of the quartet of pianist Charles Bell. In New York he played at Copa. As a studio musician, he has worked for Screamin 'Jay Hawkins , Sam Cooke , The Monkees , Barbara Lewis , Brenda Lee , Shirley Bassey , Laura Nyro , Dave Van Ronk and Peter, Paul & Mary , among others . He also performed at jazz festivals in Florida. In the field of jazz he was involved in nine recording sessions between 1986 and 1997, among others with Bill Allred , Rick Fay and Panama Francis .
