Louise-Madeleine Cochin , née Horthemels (* 1686 in Paris ; † October 2, 1767 there ), was a French engraver and painter .

She came from a family of booksellers and publishers. Her parents were Daniel Horthemels and Marie-Anne Cellier , who was also the daughter of a bookseller. Three of her four siblings, Marie-Anne , Marie-Nicole and Frederic , also became engravers. The brothers Denis and Daniel II became booksellers and publishers.

In 1713 she married the engraver Charles-Nicolas Cochin . In 1715 their son was born, who was also baptized with the name Charles-Nicolas and was therefore nicknamed the younger . Furthermore, a daughter, Madeleine-Geneviève, was born, who also became a copperplate engraver.

At a young age, in addition to the copperplate engravings, she created a cycle of pictures about the Port Royal des Champs convent . In the vast majority, however, she engraved works after painters such as Nicolas Poussin , Charles Le Brun , Antoine Coypel or Claude Vignon .

She signed her works differently. Among other things with maid. Horthemels , Magdalena Horthemels, Cochin or Madeleine Cochin .
