Louise was the youngest daughter of King George II of Great Britain and his wife Wilhelmine Karoline von Brandenburg-Ansbach .

Princess Louise married Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark in Altona on December 11, 1743 and became Queen of Denmark in 1746. Louise's arrival in Copenhagen changed the previously stiff court life, which was under Christian VI. prevailed. It became popular not only with the people of Copenhagen. Unlike her predecessor , she learned Danish and also made sure that her children were taught in this language, which helped increase her popularity. Friedrich gave birth to five children, four of whom survived. After only five years as the Danish queen, she died in her sixth pregnancy.

The wise and gracious queen positively influenced and inspired her husband in the government, so the arts and sciences were greatly promoted. Because she was extremely popular and adored by the Danes, the memory of the early deceased became more and more glorified over time, which was true for her successor Juliane Marie , as well as for her niece and daughter-in-law Caroline Mathilde , as this Danish one Became queen, was at a disadvantage in terms of sympathy. An example of this transfiguration is the ode Queen Luise von Klopstock from 1752.
