Love Yourself 承 'Her' is the fifth EP by the South Korean boy group BTS , which was released on September 18, 2017 under Big Hit Entertainment . The album contains nine songs with DNA as the lead single. Four different physical versions (L, O, V, E) were released with two hidden tracks each.

Background and advertising

The Bangtan Boys started their Love Yourself concept on August 10th with the release of a series of posters related to a series of Highlight Reels short films that were uploaded to YouTube from August 15th to 21st. BigHit Entertainment confirmed the new album for September 18th. It is the first work since Bangtan's new brand identity. On September 4th, group member Jimin's comeback trailer Serendipity came out. It's the most viewed comeback teaser from any K-pop group. Two days later, the concept photos of the four versions were posted on Twitter. On September 12th, BigHit released the track list.

Four hours before the album was released, BTS gave a press conference calling Love Yourself 承 'Her' a turning point in their career . After the album was released, there was a live stream on the V app in which the members celebrated their new album. On September 21st, Mnet organized a comeback show that was streamed live worldwide. The program showed the background of the album, the history of the band and each member.

Music videos

DNA teasers were released on September 14th and 15th . The music video came out on September 18 at the same time as the album. With 20.9 million clicks, it is the most viewed music video by a K-pop artist - the previous record was 13.3 million and was the 13th most views of a video within a day.

The music video for MIC Drop Remix was released on November 24th .

Commercial win

LOEN Entertainment, responsible for Bangtan's physical albums, reported 1,051,546 pre-orders - another record. The album topped the iTunes album charts in 73 countries - the highest number for a K-pop artist, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Australia and Hong Kong. DNA was # 1 on the iTunes Top Song Charts in 29 countries. Love Yourself 承 'Her' debuted at number 57 in the German album charts, making it the first album by a Korean group to reach a chart position in Germany. The album peaked at # 7 on the Billboard Top 200. No K-Pop artist debuted in the Top 10 in Billboard's history.

The album achieved Bangtan's best sales with 1.61 million records. In January 2018, the Bangtan Boys became the first group outside of the "Big Three" to win the Daesang for CD sales at the Golden Disc Awards.

In February 2018 "DNA" and "MIC Drop" were awarded gold by the RIAA . Thus, the Bangtan Boys are the first and only Korean artists with more than two RIAA awards.
