Loveland is a city in Larimer County in the US state of Colorado , United States , on the banks of the Big Thompson River .

Loveland is known nationally as the home of the Valentine's Day re-mailing program . Every year hundreds of thousands of letters are answered with self-composed verses and sent back "hand-stamped".

The Loveland Pass , also by William AH Loveland named, is not in the vicinity of this city.

Attractions

Just outside the city to the west is Devil's Backbone Open Space , a bizarre rock formation under which, with a little imagination, you can imagine the bones of a spine. The hiking trail on Devil's Backbone offers an impressive view of the Rocky Mountains .

On the eastern edge of the city, directly on Interstate 25, there are two large shopping centers: Centerra Mall east of I-25 and an outlet mall west of I-25.
