Luís Carreira

Luís Filipe de Sousa Carreira (born December 31, 1976 in Lisbon , † November 15, 2012 in Macau ) was a Portuguese motorcycle racer .

Luís Carreira was an experienced road racer and has participated in numerous road races, including the Isle of Man TT and the North West 200 . In addition, he was able to win the championship title in the Superstock 1000 championship in his home country four times in his career.

In the 2008 season he started with a wildcard on a Suzuki GSX-R1000 at the Superbike World Championship in Portimão , but could not achieve any points.

Carreira had a fatal accident on November 15, 2012 during qualifying for the Macau Grand Prix at the Guia Circuit . His Suzuki from the Benimoto Suzuki Cetelem team hit the guardrail in the Pescadores curve without any outside interference and succumbed to his injuries a short time later in the Conde de São Januário Hospital.
