Luísa Coelho

Maria Luísa de Maia Júlio Teixeira Coelho (* 1954 in Luso , Angola ) is a Portuguese linguist and writer.

The linguist and cultural worker is a university professor and author of a number of textbooks for teaching Portuguese as a foreign language, as well as a large number of short stories, novels, children's books and collections of short stories.

Life

Coelho was born in what was then the Portuguese colony of Angola and went to Portugal with her family in the course of Angola's independence in 1974/1975.

She completed her studies at the University of Lisbon ( German , languages ​​and literary studies) with a degree in German Philology, followed by a doctoral thesis ( Ph.D. ) on multimedia educational communication in 1994 at the University of Utrecht and in 2002 an MA in political philosophy at the Catholic University University of Lisbon .

From 1983 to 2015 she was a lecturer in Portuguese as a foreign language at the University of Lisbon, and since 1986 she has also worked for the Portuguese cultural institute Instituto Camões . She also taught Portuguese and Portuguese literature for five years at the University of Brasilia , then at the University of Agostinho Neto in Luanda and at other universities in Austria, France and the Netherlands.

In 2010 she moved to Berlin and has since headed the cultural center of the Instituto Camões there, where she also teaches Portuguese at the Humboldt University and the Free University . There she supports and supervises cultural projects for German-Portuguese encounters. A first collection of texts on the topic was published in 2015, a German edition is being planned (as of 2017).

Parallel to her diverse work as a linguist, she also devoted herself to writing and wrote a large number of novels, short stories, short stories, poetry and children's and youth literature, which have been published in Portugal, Brazil, the USA and Belgium since 1992.
