Luboš Perek
Luboš Perek (born July 26, 1919 in Prague , † before or on September 17, 2020 ) was a Czech astronomer . He was best known for the Perek Kohoutek catalog created together with Luboš Kohoutek and published in 1967 .
Live and act
Luboš Perek was born in Prague as the son of Zdeněk Perek and Vilemína Trappová. He studied at Masaryk University , where he graduated in 1946 and became an assistant at the Astronomical Institute. In 1956 he went to the Astronomical Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy , where he obtained his doctorate in 1961 . He then went to the International Astronomical Union , where he held several positions. Among other things, he was its General Secretary from 1967 to 1970 and President of Commission 33 for the Structure and Dynamics of Galactic Systems from 1973 to 1976, of which he was a member until 2015.
Perek was an associate member of the Royal Astronomical Society , the International Academy of Astronautics , the German Academy of Natural Scientists , the Académie de l'air et de l'espace , the International Science Council , the International Astronautical Federation (President from 1981 to 1982), the Scholarly Society of the Czech Republic and was the Czech envoy to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space from 1992 to 2003 .
