Luc Walpot

Luc Walpot (* 1959 in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau , Liège ) is a Belgian journalist.

Life

Luc Walpot comes from Kelmis in the German-speaking Community in East Belgium . After graduating from high school in Eupen , he studied political science and sociology at RWTH Aachen University from 1978 to 1983 . From 1983 to 1996 he was news editor and reporter for the Belgian broadcasting company in Brussels and until 1997 for the WDR in Cologne .

Walpot has been working for ZDF since 1997 , initially as editor and reporter for the ZDF morning magazine . From 1998 to 2001 he reported for the main editorial team "News" from the studios in Washington , Paris , Brussels, Moscow , Tel Aviv and from the former Yugoslavia as well as from worldwide crisis areas for ZDF. From 2001 to 2008 Walpot worked as the director of the ZDF studio in Cairo . From 2009 to the end of 2011, Walpot was head of the ZDF editorial team today . From 2012 to 2017 Walpot headed the ZDF studio in Istanbul . In January 2018 he returned to Mainz as a reporter and editor at the ZDF broadcasting center .

He was married to the doctor, traffic pilot and former competitive athlete and DLR astronaut Heike Walpot .
