Luca Iodice (born August 11, 1978 ) is a former Italian football player and current coach .

Career as a player

Luca Iodice began his professional career in 1995 at the Grasshopper Club Zurich , where he was trained by Christian Gross . In 1997 he moved to city rivals FC Zurich , with whom he played in the 1998/99 UEFA Cup and reached the third round. After a 0-1 defeat in the first leg, thanks to a penalty in stoppage time, FC Zurich were 2-1 in the second leg until the 92nd minute, but then received the equalizer from Francesco Totti . In 1999 Iodice signed a contract with AC Bellinzona , where he only played a year. After stops in Schaffhausen , Baden and Aarau , he returned to FC Zurich for the 2002/03 season , which was coached by Georges Bregy and Gilbert Gress at that time . In the two following years, the Zurich team was not enough for a European place in the Swiss championship. In June 2004 Iodice announced that he would terminate his contract early and signed with FC Winterthur , where he played one season. In 2005 he returned to FC Baden, where he played 48 games and scored one goal. As the last station of his professional career, he got involved with SC Buochs .

Career as a coach

FC Bremgarten

In the summer of 2009, one year after his last engagement as an active professional footballer, Luca Iodice took over the second division club FC Bremgarten as game coach. In the same season, despite initial difficulties and a relegation place at the winter break, he was able to celebrate the league with his team three rounds before the end. After that, inquiries from other clubs - also from higher leagues - were not lacking. In the end, Iodice decided to train for another season at FC Bremgarten.

FC Meisterschwanden

On December 13, 2011, Iodice left FC Bremgarten due to a lack of motivation and too much effort for little success. Instead, he signed a contract with the second division club FC Meisterschwanden.

FC Zurich U-16

For the 2013/14 season, Iodice took on the role of assistant coach for the U-16 team at FC Zurich . With that he returned to the club where he once played in midfield.
