Lucia Böck

Lucia Böck (* 1998 ) is an Austrian saxophonist and woodwind player .

Böck was born in 1998 in Lower Austria and received music lessons in recorder , clarinet and bassoon from the age of 6 . She began her musical training on the saxophone at the age of ten, first at her local music school and then at the Bad Vöslau music school with Michaela Reingruber.In 2016, she switched to the saxophone class with Christian Maurer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

As an orchestral musician, Böck played from 2014 to 2018 as a bassoonist in the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Lower Austria and as a baritone saxophonist in the Young Wind Philharmonic Orchestra of Lower Austria. She also worked on projects for the Vienna Philharmonic as part of the Salzburg Festival and the Vienna Symphony as part of the Bregenz Festival . In addition to her work as a classical saxophonist, Böck plays Austrian folk music with her brother Sebastian Böck. In the field of baroque music she plays the Viennese oboe .

Solo appearances have taken her to concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic , Mozarteum Salzburg , Festspielhaus St. Pölten and the Stadttheater Wiener Neustadt .

Awards

In 2015 she received first prize at the Austrian national competition “ Prima la musica ” in the category saxophone solo and was heard several times as a soloist on Radio Niederösterreich . In the area of ​​popular music, Böck and the music school band “Groove Tuners” won a 2nd prize at the national youth music competition “podium jazz pop rock” in the “Jazz & Contemporary Music” category. In 2019 she received first prize at the international music competition “Grand Prize Virtuoso Salzburg Competition” with the special prize “Best Austrian Musician” and third prize at the international music competition “Rising Stars Grand Prix Berlin 2019”.
