Lucy Wainwright Roche (born December 16, 1981 in Greenwich Village , New York , USA ) is an American singer-songwriter .

Life

Wainwright Roche is the daughter of the musician and actor Loudon Wainwright III and the musician Suzzy Roche , who together with her sisters Maggie and Terre formed the vocal group The Roches . She is thus the half-sister of the musicians Rufus Wainwright and Martha Wainwright .

After graduating from high school, she attended Oberlin College , Ohio, earned a masters degree from Bank Street College of Education , Manhattan, and then began teaching. In 2007 she started her full-time career as a musician and has since released several albums. She repeatedly performs with her parents and siblings.
