Liudolf , often also Ludolf von Brauweiler († April 11, 1031 ) was Vogt of the Brauweiler Abbey , heir to the rule of Waldenburg and, through his marriage, Lord of Zütphen . He was an imperial general, standard-bearer and probably also Vogt of the city of Cologne .

Life

Liudolf was the eldest son of Ezzo , Count Palatine of Lorraine from the house of the Ezzones , and Mathilde of Saxony , thus the eldest grandson of Emperor Otto II from the house of the Liudolfingers .

The marriage of Liudolf and Mathilde was under critical conditions, since Mathilde von Zütphen, as the daughter of Otto von Zütphen or Hammerstein and Irmingard von Verdun, was a child of the Hammerstein marriage and was therefore considered illegitimate from 1018 to 1027 - a flaw that persists at this time extended to Liudolf.

Liudolf died three years before his father and was buried in the family grave in the Brauweiler monastery.
