- July 20 : After the death of the French King Robert II the Pious , there is a succession battle. The eldest son, Henry I , chosen by Robert as his successor, does not find undivided approval within the royal family. Queen widow Konstanze von der Provence prefers her younger son Robert as successor and conspires against Heinrich. The party of Constance and Roberts receives the support of Count Odo II of Blois , who already opposed the crown under the reign of Robert II. But Heinrich can fight him with Count Fulko III. At the beginning of the year, Bardo , abbot at Werden monastery , also became abbot of Hersfeld through the mediation of Empress Gisela von Schwaben . Since Bardo's relationship with the Empress is mentioned in this context, he appears as a member of the Conradin family .
