Ludwig A. Pongratz

Ludwig A. Pongratz (* 1948 in Eiserfeld ) is a German educator . From 1992 to 2009 he was Professor of General Pedagogy and Adult Education at the Technical University of Darmstadt .

Life

Ludwig A. Pongratz received his doctorate in 1976 with a dissertation on the subject of "On the Critique of Cybernetic Methodology in Education" (Frankfurt / Main et al. 1978). After legal clerkship and scientific assistant work, he completed his habilitation in 1984 with the thesis “Education and Subjectivity. Historical-systematic studies on the theory of education ”(Weinheim 1986) at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen . In 1992 he was appointed to a professorship for general pedagogy and adult education at the Technical University of Darmstadt, which he held until 2009.

Pongratz is the father of four children, two of them, Tobias and Daniel, are known as hip-hoppers by the names Panik Panzer and Danger Dan of the Antilopen Gang formation .

Research priorities

Ludwig A. Pongratz's main research interests are in the field of educational theory , historical and systematic pedagogy, pedagogical methodology as well as adult and continuing education. Ludwig A. Pongratz advocates a critical educational theory that both takes up the legacy of early critical theory (especially Theodor W. Adornos ) and ties in with the educational theoretical drafts of Heinz-Joachim Heydorn and Gernot Koneffke . Ludwig A. Pongratz is also one of the first German educationalists to demonstrate the importance of Michel Foucault's discourse and power analysis for the history of educational theory, philosophy of education and methodology. Since the late 1990s, Ludwig A. Pongratz has positioned himself as a distinguished critic of system-theoretical-constructivist approaches in education ("Shallows in Mainstream", Paderborn 2009) and as a critic of the neoliberal educational reform since the turn of the millennium ("The Bermuda Triangle of Education: Bologna - Lisbon - Berlin ", Paderborn 2009; cul-de-sacs in education. Thinking differently about pedagogy, Paderborn 2010).

Many of his publications are now freely accessible via the Technical University of Darmstadt .

Functions

Ludwig A. Pongratz held numerous functions inside and outside the university: he was managing director of the Institute for General Pedagogy and Vocational Education at TU Darmstadt, Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences at TU Darmstadt, spokesman for the Committee on Educational Philosophy and member of the board of the General Educational Science section the DGfE ( German Society for Educational Science ). In 1985 he co-founded the International Erich Fromm Society . In addition, Ludwig A. Pongratz has been working as an independent supervisor ( DGSv ) and coach with his own practice in Aachen since 2007 .
