Ludwig Aloys von Arco auf Valley (born March 4, 1845 in Munich , † October 15, 1891 in Berlin ) was a German diplomat .

Life

The parents of Ludwig Aloys von Arco auf Valley were Anna Mareschalchi (1813–1885) and Maximilian von und zu Arco-Valley . His brother was Emmerich von Arco-Valley .

Ludwig Aloys von Arco auf Valley studied law in Munich from 1867 from 1867 and took the theoretical examination for civil service. From December 1867 to July 1870 he was an attaché at the Bavarian embassy to the Holy See . From July 1870 to June 1871 Arco was employed at Valley in the Bavarian Foreign Ministry . In 1870 he was used in the Franco-German War .

On June 3, 1871, Ludwig Aloys von Arco auf Valley joined the foreign service of the German Empire and was sent to Washington, DC as an attaché . From September 20, 1872 to December 13, 1873 he was the second-class embassy secretary in Vienna . On November 29, 1873 he married Antonie Janisch , actress of the Burgtheater , and was urged by the government of the German Reich to apply for retirement for health reasons. The couple went on a trip to Egypt and Italy. On August 1, 1875, after the divorce, he was returned to the foreign service and sent to Daniel Bernhard Weisweiller as third-class embassy secretary at the embassy in Madrid.

From December 1882 to August 1886, Arco was accredited to Valley in Rome . From August 1886 to February 1888 he was consul general in Alexandria . From February 1888 until his death in October 1891 he served as envoy to Washington .
