Ludwig (Anhalt-Koethen)
Ludwig II. August Friedrich Emil von Anhalt-Köthen (born September 20, 1802 in Köthen ; † December 18, 1818 in Leipzig ) was Duke of Anhalt-Köthen from the Ascanians for six years , but was due to his minority until on his death under the tutelage of his relatives from the Dessau line.
Life
Duke Ludwig was the son of Prince Ludwig of Anhalt-Koethen (1778–1802). The father died before his ruling brother, the Prince (since 1806 Duke) August Christian . Since the childless Duke August Christian died in 1812, Ludwig had formally to succeed as a ten-year-old ailing boy (under the tutelage of the senior of the Princely House of Anhalt, Duke Leopold III. Friedrich Franz von Anhalt-Dessau ) 16 years of age survived.
Ludwig died childless in 1818 and was buried in the princely crypt of St. Jakob's Church in Köthen . The title of duke and government went to his cousin Ferdinand from the Anhalt-Koethen-Pless branch .
