Ludwig Daxsperger

Ludwig Daxsperger (born July 8, 1900 in Raab (Upper Austria) , † November 20, 1996 in Linz ) was an Austrian composer , music teacher , cathedral organist and choir director .

Live and act

Daxsperger attended the episcopal teachers' seminar in Linz and was initially an elementary school teacher . He then studied in Vienna and taught at the federal teacher training institutes in Salzburg and Linz. From 1930 to 1982 he was the cathedral organist and from 1945 he directed the city symphony orchestra and worked as a concert organist in Linz. From 1945 to 1965 he directed the Bruckner Choir Linz and was a founding member of the Bruckner Association of Upper Austria. He was a knight of the Order of St. Gregory and a member of the Innviertel artists' guild .

Works

Daxsperger has u. a. the great works of Max Reger premiered. He is the author of numerous choirs and song settings, a. a. of Enrica's poems by Handel-Mazzetti and Franz Stelzhamer's . His main works include:

  • The Wessobrunn Prayer, for mixed choir, orchestra and organ, (1928)
  • 84th Psalm for solos, mixed choir and orchestra (1927)
  • Requiem for mixed choir and organ (1918)
