Ludwig Fidel Weissenbach

Ludwig Fidel Weissenbach (born April 29, 1750 in Bremgarten ; † November 25, 1814 in Aarau ; resident in Bremgarten) was a Swiss politician and judge . From 1803 until his death he was Councilor of the Canton of Aargau .

biography

From 1771 Weissenbach was a member of the Forties Council of the city of Bremgarten, from 1781 he was a signatory in the service of the governor of the county of Baden . From 1794 to 1796 he served as city judge in Bremgarten, then until 1798 as the last mayor before the collapse of the old system of rule. In the canton of Baden in the Helvetic Republic , he was president of the district court and member of the cantonal assembly.

After the merger of the cantons of Baden and Fricktal with the canton of Aargau through the act of mediation by Napoleon Bonaparte , Weissenbach was elected to the Aargau Grand Council in 1803 . This in turn elected him to represent the conservatives in the cantonal government. He remained in office until his death and was responsible for the Catholic Church Department. He was also a member of the Grand Council, which he presided over in 1811 and 1812 (at that time there was no strict separation of powers).
