Ludwig Giersberg

Ludwig Giersberg (born December 2, 1824 in Minden ; † September 8, 1883 in Berlin ) was a German architect and high-ranking Prussian building officer .

Life

As the second son of a major , after graduating from high school in 1841 at the Ratsgymnasium Minden, he completed two years of preparation in the building trade and from 1843 attended the Berlin Building Academy , which he completed in 1847 with the preliminary examination for state building officials and an excellent assessment.

In 1852 he passed the second state examination with great success and in 1856 was transferred to Kleve as district builder , and in 1865 to Danzig as chief building inspector , before being appointed to the building department of the Ministry of Trade in Berlin in 1866 . In 1867 he was appointed government building officer and co-director, and in 1868 he was finally appointed conductor of the ministerial building commission and was appointed government building officer. In 1869 promoted to the secret and lecturing building officer in the Ministry of Commerce , he was responsible for the department related to high schools, seminars and teaching institutions for art and science. In 1875 he was appointed Secret Ober-Baurath . On the occasion of the inauguration of the Joachimsthal Gymnasium, he was awarded the Order of the Crown, 2nd class , in 1880 . In 1882 Giersberg received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves.

Buildings and designs

Under his direction as head of department, numerous buildings were planned, erected, expanded and changed - some of them according to his own designs.
