Ludwig Hartmann (Author)
Ludwig Hartmann (born February 4, 1881 in Speyer , † April 14, 1967 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) was a Palatinate dialect poet and editor of dialect literature .
Life
Hartmann was in Speyer , the son of from Vollmersweiler originating teacher born and later wine merchant Johann L. Hartmann. 1891-1897 he attended grammar school in Speyer and then learned the trade. In 1898 he entered the service of the railway with stations in Speyer, Bellheim , Ludwigshafen am Rhein and Munich . During the First World War he was a field railroader . By order of the French occupation authorities at the time, he had to spend the years 1923/24 outside the Palatinate and lived in Upper Bavaria . In 1946 he retired as a Federal Railroad Inspector and lived in Ludwigshafen am Rhein until his death in 1967. He was married to Johanna Wetz.

Ludwig Hartmann's interest in dialect poetry in the Palatinate language was triggered by reading the dialect poets Karl Christian Nadler and Karl August Woll .
In 1914 his first work was published, the volume of poems Pälzer Schternschnuppe , which was published in six editions by 1926. His first work was followed by six more books by 1958, which also contained smaller prose texts. Some of the volumes also contained short texts in High German. The most famous piece is De Unkel from America .
In 1920 his richly illustrated work Kinnersprich vum Ludewig (new edition 2005) was published for children, of which 4000 copies were sold within four weeks.
In 1925/1926 he was in charge of the two-volume Palatinate anthology Pälzer Ausles .
