Ludwig Lipp senior
Ludwig Lipp senior (born October 30, 1877 in Mainz ; † August 14, 1945 there ) was a stone sculptor in Mainz. During his training at the Mainz School of Applied Arts , the Erbach Carving School and the Munich Art Academy , he was already awarded written commendations and a silver medal.
In his Mainz workshop on Gartenfeldplatz in Mainz-Neustadt , he mainly worked with sandstone, marble and shell limestone. In addition, he also created the models for the iron casting of the nail column . Portrait work was also one of his specialties, which can be seen in numerous statues, monuments and reliefs in Mainz . This also includes the Schwellköpp of the Mainz Carnival .
His son Ludwig Lipp junior carried on the tradition of Schwellköpp and other sculptural work.
