Ludwig Maria Florian (born January 18, 1900 in Neustadt ; † December 16, 1973 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German administrative officer and local politician (CDU).

Life

Ludwig Florian studied economics in Münster and was awarded a Dr. rer. pole. PhD. He was a soldier in World War II.

In 1945 he became managing director of the IHK Frankfurt am Main and played a key role in the establishment of the IHK together with the American-appointed President Alfred Petersen . He was then head of department in the Hessian Ministry of Economics and State Commissioner. From 1947 to 1952 Florian was the administrator of Mitteldeutsche Creditbank , the Hessian branch group of the decentralized Commerzbank. In this role he oversaw the implementation of the major banking reform. From 1953 to 1965 he was police vice president in Frankfurt am Main and disaster control officer for the urban area of ​​Frankfurt.

In 1948 he became a city councilor in the Frankfurt city council and deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group from 1948 to 1952. From 1947 to 1952 he was chairman of the CDU district association, succeeding Jakob Husch / Peter Horn .

Florian had been a member of the WKSt.V. since 1919 . Unitas Winfridia Munster . In 1948 he was elected chairman of the Union of Scientific Catholic Student Associations UNITAS in St. Augustin ; under his aegis, the Unitas Association was able to be rebuilt after the end of the Second World War.

In 1969 Florian was elected President of the Catholic German Academic Association KDA , an association with around 66,000 members. His successor was Lothar Bossle in 1972 .

In 1954 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Nicola Cardinal Canali and invested in the Freiburg Minster on May 9, 1954 by Lorenz Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy .
