Ludwig Muff (chief magistrate, 1775)

August Ludwig Ferdinand Heinrich Muff (born October 31, 1775 in Ludwigsburg , † May 22, 1833 in Ulm ) was a Württemberg governor.

Life

Ludwig Muff came from a long-established line of honor in Württemberg. His father was a senior bailiff in Ludwigsburg. From 1794 he first studied philosophy and theology in Tübingen , then from 1797 to 1799 law. He earned the degree of Mag. Phil. In 1799 Ludwig Muff became court attorney and in 1803 he was given the position of senior magistrate in Schwäbisch Gmünd and from 1806 to 1811 in Göppingen . In 1811 he took over the management of the Oberamt Ulm , which he headed for 22 years until his untimely death. He died in active service in 1833.

His son Hans Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Muff also served the Württemberg state as senior bailiff. His grandson Karl von Muff (1846–1935) was a Württemberg officer, most recently a lieutenant general.
