Ludwig Skell

Ludwig Skell (also: Sckell ) (* 1842 in Obergünzburg ; † March 31, 1905 in Munich ) was a German landscape , genre , portrait and caricature painter and lithographer . He was a member of the Sckell family of painters and gardeners and is not identical to the painter Ludwig Sckell (1833–1912).

Skell was the son of a district ranger. He enrolled on October 24, 1859 (according to the register book at the age of 20) for the class of antiquities at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . He settled permanently in Munich. In addition to genre painting, he created portraits and landscapes or illustrations for fairy tales and ballads. Some lithographs by him are also known.
