Ulrich Ludwig Friedrich Wolf (born July 27, 1776 in Berlin ; † October 28, 1832 there ) was a German artist.

Life

After training at the academy in Berlin, he began as a landscape painter , but was particularly successful as an illustrator .

Figures from contemporary history such as Frederick the Great and Napoleon Bonaparte were among the preferred motifs for his copperplate engravings . Several of his drawings are in the possession of the Kupferstichkabinett SMB in Berlin, such as the entry of Napoleon through the Brandenburg Gate on October 27, 1806 in 1807, the entry of the allied princes into Paris in 1814 and the entry of Friedrich Wilhelm III. through the Brandenburg Gate in 1814 . The Stadtmuseum Berlin Foundation has a wash drawing showing Napoleon on horseback in 1806 and an etching Friedrich Wilhelm Bollingers after a drawing by Wolf, which is entitled Ceremonial Entry of His Majesty the King of Prussia Friedrich Wilhelm III. to the Berlin Residenz on December 23, 1809 . The German Horse Museum owns a representation of the Condé horse in front of the buildings of the later Veterinary College in Berlin by Wolf's hand.
