Ludwig von Gemmingen (1776-1854)

Karl Ludwig Franz Dietrich von Gemmingen (born August 24, 1776 in Ludwigsburg , † July 19, 1854 in Stuttgart ) was a Württemberg forest clerk and chamberlain . As a knightly deputy, he was a member of the Württemberg state parliament .

Life

He came from the 2nd sub-branch (Stuttgart) of the 2nd branch (Guttenberg and Fürfeld) of the barons of Gemmingen-Guttenberg and was a son of Johann Dietrich von Gemmingen (1744-1805) and Friederike von Bönninghausen (1744-1806). Around 80 noble people were present as witnesses at his baptism, including the Württemberg Duke Karl Eugen . From 1785 he attended the High Charles School in Stuttgart and when it was closed in 1793 he switched to the Page Institute. In 1794 he joined Forstrat Reitter as a hunting page. In 1797 he was promoted to court and hunting squire, in 1799 to chamberlain . Also in 1799 he was a hunting squire in the Leibgehög in Ludwigsburg. In 1802 he was appointed court forester. In 1803 he was head forester at the Comburg. In 1804 he was appointed chamberlain . In 1808 he was head forester in Kirchheim, in 1812 in Bebenhausen . In 1817 he became district forest adviser and district chief forest manager at the royal finance chamber of the Jagst district in Ellwangen . In 1832 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown . In 1840 he retired.

From 1826 to 1838 he was a representative of the knighthood of the Jagstkreis in the second chamber of the Württemberg Land estates , where he was one of the most loyal members to the government and only made a few speeches exclusively on topics related to agriculture and forestry.

family

From 1808 he was married to Karoline Franziska Charlotte Luise von Stetten-Buchenbach (1791-1856). His sons also pursued careers in forestry. Friedrich, who died young, became a forest assistant in Ellwangen, his brother Ernst became a forest ranger in Lampoldshausen, Stettenfels and Kirchheim.
