Count Ludwig Friedrich von Kielmansegg (born October 17, 1765 in Celle ; † June 29, 1850 in Gülzow ) was a German liberation fighter and court official of the Kingdom of Hanover .

origin

Ludwig Friedrich Graf von Kielmansegg was the son of the Hanoverian Drost in Ratzeburg Friedrich Graf von Kielmansegg (1728–1800). The later Lieutenant General Friedrich von Kielmansegg and the later Minister of War Ferdinand von Kielmansegg were his younger brothers.

Life

He studied law and entered the judicial service of the Electorate of Hanover , where he was appointed war council in 1791. He took part in the campaigns in the Netherlands from 1793-95 under Field Marshal Johann Ludwig von Wallmoden-Gimborn and then married his second daughter. Wallmoden's first daughter had married Heinrich Friedrich Karl vom und zum Stein , so that he was related by marriage to him . In 1803 he had to proclaim the Artlenburg Convention . With the Prussian annexation of Hanover in 1806, he withdrew into private life. In 1813 he traveled to England in order to obtain permission to regroup troops in the Electorate of Hanover. He became major general of the new Hanoverian Army with far-reaching powers and worked closely with his brother-in-law Ludwig von Wallmoden-Gimborn , who was in command of the Lower Elbe region in Russian service . After the war he resigned from the military and from 1814 to 1839 he became head stable master of the Kingdom of Hanover. Like his two brothers, as a freemason, he was temporarily master of the chair in the Friedrichsloge in Hanover. He died on his Gülzow estate in Lauenburg.
