Location of Ludwigsthal in Saarland

Ludwigsthal is a district of Neunkirchen (Saar) and is located southeast of downtown Neunkirchen between Wellesweiler and Furpach .

location

The district of Ludwigsthal is located in a forest area between the Neunkirchen districts of Furpach, Wellesweiler and Kohlhof . It is connected to the federal highways 8 and 6 . The Erlenbrunnenbach , which used to flow east of the town , no longer exists.

history

In earlier times the area belonged to the community of Mittelbexbach and since 1816 to the Kingdom of Bavaria . In the Mittelbexbacher Plantage district directly on the Prussian-Bavarian border, Jakob Neu from Steinbach settled in 1817 and built a stone house. The name plantation (in local parlance always "the plantation") was transferred to the new settlement in 1819. Plantation was predominantly populated by people who were looking for work in the nearby industrial town of Neunkirchen. In 1884 the residents of Plantage applied to change the name of the annexes to Ludwigsthal . The local council in Mittelbexbach agreed, as the name plantation was “ linguistically and factually incorrect ”, and so the place was renamed Ludwigsthal at the insistence of 400 residents in 1884 as a sign of loyalty to King Ludwig II of Bavaria. The old name is still popular in the vernacular (pronounced "Blandaasch"). In 1893 as in 1920 there were efforts to make Ludwigsthal an independent municipality, but these were abandoned after weighing the pros and cons, and the official spelling from 1884 (the local chronicle from 1911 uses the modernized Ludwigstal ) was retained. The district stayed with Bexbach until it came to the city of Neunkirchen on January 1, 1974 on the occasion of the regional and administrative reform in Saarland .
