Ludwigstor (Nuremberg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ludwigstor was a gate through the Nuremberg city wall and is now one of the main entrances to the southwestern Nuremberg old town.

In addition to the Spittlertor , a further connection to Gostenhof was necessary due to the increasing traffic in 1866 . A city gate with a rusticated archway was built and named after the nearby "Ludwigstrasse". Due to the increasing volume of traffic, it was demolished again in 1893.

The Ludwigstorzwinger (also called Köchertszwinger) extends between Ludwigstor and Fürther Tor.
