history

The company was founded in August 1987 as DLT AERO Services GmbH by DLT as a repair and maintenance company and initially employed seven people. In August 1988, the company received approval as an aeronautical maintenance organization for PW100 engines. Until the first factory hall was completed in October 1988, board trolleys were initially repaired in rented premises. In October 1988, a PW123B from customer DLT completed the first test run on the in-house test bench.

In 1990 the company, which had grown to 136 employees, celebrated the 100th engine on the factory premises. In 1991 DLT AERO Services GmbH received approval to repair and overhaul the CF34-3 engine from General Electric (GE) and the PW901A auxiliary turbine for the Boeing 747 from Pratt & Whitney Canada. A third hall was added to the production facility this year.

After a capital increase by the parent company DLT in 1992, Deutsche Lufthansa AG became the majority owner with a 52% stake in the company, which from then on traded as Lufthansa Cityline and was completely taken over by Lufthansa AG in 1993. The changed ownership of the parent company in 1992 also led to the company name being changed to Lufthansa CityLine AERO GmbH in Alzey . After the merger of the European supervisory authorities to form the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA), the JAA approval LBA.0015 followed in 1993. A year later, approval by the US aviation authority enabled the FAA to operate on the US market under the approval number L7AY586J . On January 1, 1994, Lufthansa Commercial Holding GmbH took the place of Lufthansa CityLine as the controlling company , which resulted in a further name change to Lufthansa AERO GmbH. The company has been owned by Lufthansa Technik AG since January 1, 1995 . In September 1998, the 1000th engine repaired was celebrated by 200 employees.

In 2002 the company was approved as a repair and overhaul company for the General Electric CF34-8 engine series. With the establishment of the Lufthansa AERO Service Center Tulsa (Oklahoma), the company has had its own service location in the United States since 2003. With the reorganization of the European Aviation Authority, the certification standard for aeronautical companies changed to EASA Standard 145, which was granted to the company in 2004.

Loading a lease engine

Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey has been a Designated Overhaul Facility for the PW150 turbo-propeller engine from Pratt & Whitney Canada since 2005. With the name change in 2006 to Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey, the company is moving closer by name to the parent company. The integration into the LHT Product Division "Engines" followed in 2007. In 2010 the 3000th Pratt & Whitney Canada PW100 event was completed. With the introduction of the General Electric CF34-10, the CF34 service portfolio was completed. In 2011, the second test bench was completed on the Alzeyer premises and the Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey Service Center was founded in Australia.
